If, after switching on the ignition, the controlled functions are in order, the OK display appears for a few seconds.
Controlled functions displayed on the instrument cluster:
- Radio indication
- Outdoor temperature display
- Open Door/Trunk Warning
- Fault monitoring system
- Driver's instructions
- Speed alarm
- 5-speed automatic transmission control lever positions
- Lever positions «multitronic»
- Maintenance interval display
- Menu display
- Telephone and telematics
- Navigation data
Reset button
The button for selecting and displaying various parameters on the display is mounted in the wiper control handle.
By consecutive short pressing of the button "Reset" the following display is selected:
- outside temperature/board computer/vehicle troubleshooting system
- navigation/telematics
- display off
Note. The malfunction indication of the malfunction monitoring system is also displayed when the display is off.
Radio indication
If, after monitoring by the fault monitoring system, there is no indication of faults of the 2nd degree of priority and the radio is on, after the indication goes out "OK", the radio station name or radio frequency appears on the display with additional information.
This indication is additional information on the radio display.
Outdoor temperature display
The outside temperature is shown on the display when the ignition is on. On vehicles with automatic transmission, the display only appears after the drive mode has been switched on.
At temperatures from +5°С to -5°С, a snowflake is displayed to the left of the temperature display. The appearance of the snowflake symbol warns the driver to take extra care due to the danger of ice.
When the vehicle is stationary or when driving at very low speed, the indication may be slightly higher than the actual temperature due to the heat generated by the engine.
On vehicles with air conditioning, when the display is switched to Fahrenheit (°F) the outside temperature display changes automatically accordingly.
Attention. Never use the outdoor temperature indication as a basis for determining the likelihood of ice on the road. Remember that even at an outside temperature of +5°C, ice formation is possible!
Open Door and Trunk Warning
The symbol draws your attention to open doors or trunk before driving.
The pictogram is displayed if at least one door, hood or trunk is not closed with the ignition on. The pictogram also indicates which door or doors are not closed. The illustration shows the open passenger door, rear left door and trunk as an example.
The boot shown in the display icon flashes when it is not closed.
When all doors and trunk are fully closed, this warning will go out and the corresponding functions of the driver information system will be displayed.
Note. On vehicles with a driver information system in "standard version" regardless of the open door, the icon always shows the driver's door not being closed.
Fault monitoring system
With the ignition on and while driving, the automatic fault monitoring system continuously monitors certain functions and the technical condition of the vehicle's systems.
The system notifies of emerging malfunctions or the need for urgent repair and maintenance work with a sound signal, accompanied by red and yellow light symbols on the display of the instrument cluster, depending on the degree of priority.
Red symbols signal danger, while yellow symbols are signal symbols. In addition, in certain situations, instructions to the driver appear in addition to the red symbols.
Driver's instructions
In addition to warning lamps and symbols, instructions for the driver are shown in the instrument cluster display.
Before switching on the driving mode for vehicles with an automatic transmission, the corresponding indication of the instruction to the driver is displayed on the display.
In addition, when a symbol of the first priority level flashes on the display, the driver can display the corresponding instructions on the display.
Displaying instructions for the driver
For example, the engine oil pressure malfunction symbol appears on the display. If you now press the control button, the following instruction will appear on the display:
MOTOR ABSTELLEN OLSTAND PRUFEN (stop engine, check oil level).
This display indication goes out after approx. 5 s. By briefly pressing the control button, the instruction can be displayed again.
Note. instruction "BEIM EINLEGEN EINER FAHRSTUFE IM STAND FUSS-BREMSE BETATIGEN (when selecting the driving mode of a stationary vehicle, press the brake pedal) cannot be displayed again. This instruction goes out after the driving mode is switched on.
Function control: manual transmission
When the ignition is switched on, the fault monitoring system automatically checks the functions. If the functions checked by the fault monitoring system are in order, the indicator lights up for a few seconds "OK".
The presence of malfunctions is indicated by the corresponding indication instead of the indication "OK". At the same time, a warning signal sounds.
If there is no indication "OK", as well as malfunctions, the vehicle malfunction control system itself is subject to verification.
Function control: automatic transmission
When the ignition is switched on, the fault monitoring system automatically checks the function. With the control lever in position "R" or "N" the instruction appears on the display:
BEIM EINLEGEN EINER FAHRSTUFE IM STAND FUSSBREMSE BETATIGEN" (when selecting the driving mode of a stationary vehicle, press the brake pedal).
Now if you turn on the drive mode ("R", "D" etc.), the instruction goes out and automatic function control is carried out. If the controlled functions are in order, then the indication is displayed for a few seconds "OK".
In the presence of malfunctions, after about 15 s. after starting the engine, the above instruction to the driver is replaced by the display of the corresponding fault symbol. At the same time, a warning signal sounds.
If there is no indication "OK", as well as malfunctions, the vehicle malfunction control system itself is subject to verification.
