Bulkhead



1. Remove the cylinder head.

6. Using special tool 3366, lock the automatic camshaft adjuster.



7. Clean the chain and sprockets.

8. Loosen the camshaft bearing cap bolts (see fig. Cylinder Head (ADR)).

9. Remove the automatic camshaft adjuster bolts.

10. Remove both shafts together with the regulator and chain.

11. Remove the camshaft oil seals.

Engines AAE, ABK, AAD, 1Z, AHU



12. Loosen the bearing cap nuts N5,1 and 3, then N₂ and 4 (see Fig. Cylinder head (AAE, ABK, AAD, 1Z, AHU)).

ACE Engines



13. Remove the ignition distributor.

14. Remove the nuts of the intake valve shaft bearing caps N5 and 7, then N6 and 8. Remove the nuts of the exhaust valve shaft bearings N1 and 3, then N₂ and 4. Remove all caps (see Fig. Cylinder Head (ACE)).

15. Remove the shafts together with the chain. Remove the exhaust valve shaft seal.

Engines AAR, AAN, AAS



16. Remove the ignition distributor (AAS).

17. Loosen the nuts of the bearing caps N₂ and 4, and then N1 and 3 (see Fig. Cylinder head (AAR, AAN), Cylinder head (AAS)). Remove the caps.

18. Unscrew the nuts of the bearing caps N₂ and 4, and then the caps N1 and 3.

23. Compress the valve springs with a special tool and remove the cone bushings.

24. Remove the spring plates, springs and their seats. Use a special tool.

Cleaning



Thoroughly clean the head surfaces and bores. Clean the valves and tappets.
