Torque converter marking
There are several types of torque converters. They are marked using letter designations "arrow".
Removal
Remove the left axle shaft with flange. Secure the puller "T40176" to the torque converter "A" with the nut "B".
Rotate the "T40176" puller upward. To prevent the torque converter from tipping over, hold it from below, as shown in the figure. "Arrow" should not be taken into account. Remove the torque converter from the input shaft without tilting it. Carefully place the torque converter on a workbench, for example.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Thoroughly clean the torque converter housing in the differential access area "arrow A" and the shaft seal "arrow B". If the shaft sealing ring between the differential and the gearbox housing "arrow B" is damaged, replace it. Fill the space between the working edges halfway with sealing grease -G 052128 A1-.
Clean the gear engagement of input shaft "2" and the gear engagement of the torque converter, remove corrosion and apply a very thin layer of clutch disc gear engagement grease -G 000100- to the engagement. Be sure to remove any excess grease.
Carefully, without twisting, install the torque converter using the "T40176" puller onto the "arrow" input shaft. Unscrew the "T40176" puller from the "A" torque converter. Unscrew the "B" nut. Install the left shaft with the flange.
