Removal and installation the clutch basket, reinstalling the adjusting ring (Audi A4 B7)

1. Remove the manual transmission (see Section 2).

2. Lock the flywheel from turning using tool 3067 (see illustration).



3. Loosen the clutch basket mounting bolts clockwise, a quarter turn at a time, until the spring tension is relieved.

4. Remove the clutch basket.

5. If only the driven disc is being replaced, the adjusting ring must be reinstalled before installing the clutch as described in the subsection below.

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling the components. Use tool 3176 to center the clutch discs (see illustration 8.2).

Reinstalling the adjusting ring

7. Insert three bolts (And in the illustration) fastenings of the clutch basket so that the angle between them is 120°. Screw three M8 nuts (B) onto the bolts and tighten them.





8. Clamp the pressure plate in a vice by three bolts (arrows in the illustration) and install centering device 3062.



9. Place two screwdrivers against the forks on the adjustment ring (see illustration) and using a press, press on the pressure plate so that the adjusting ring can be moved. Using screwdrivers, turn the adjusting ring in the direction of the arrows until it stops. Holding the ring in this position, remove the press from the pressure plate - the ring should now be held in the specified position.
