Once the exhaust system is installed in place, it must be aligned correctly, otherwise stress may occur, leading to cracks and/or noise.
Installation
1. The exhaust system is installed cold. If the exhaust system is hot, it must be cooled to the outside temperature.
Warning: The operation of lifting and installing the vehicle on stands is associated with danger! Therefore, before carrying out the operation, read Section Jacking and towing.
2. Raise and place the vehicle on stands.
3. Models with terminal bushing: Loosen the terminal bushing mounting bolts.
4. Move the additional muffler forward (arrow on the accompanying illustration) so that the pre-tension on the right rear clamp of the additional muffler is a = 7 – 11 mm.
5. Tighten the terminal sleeve mounting bolts evenly to the specified torque 40Nm.
Models with a terminal bushing located between the pre- and additional silencers
The pre-silencer must only be installed on vehicles with a terminal bushing located between the pre-silencer and additional silencer.
1. Loosen the terminal sleeve mounting bolts, item 22 in the illustration Exhaust system. Engine 2.0 l ALT.
2. Move the exhaust system forward (arrow on the accompanying illustration) so that the pre-tension on the right front clamp of the pre-muffler is a = 7 – 9 mm.
3. Tighten the terminal sleeve mounting bolts evenly to the specified torque 40Nm.
Installing the end pipe
1. Install the end pipe so that the distance "a" on the left is equal to the distance "a" on the right. At the same time, the distance from the cutout for the bumper to the pipe at the top is "b" = 20 mm.
Diesel engine 2.5 l
1. Adjust dimension "a" as follows: Loosen the nut (arrow on the accompanying illustration) fastening the connection between the exhaust pipes. Align the exhaust pipes evenly in the center. Tighten the nut with a torque of 23Nm.
2.5L petrol engine
1. Check the distance "a" between the end pipe (1) and the bumper (2). It should be 40 mm.
