Every four years, the emergency power supply battery must be replaced in vehicles with the Telematics system.
The Telematik control unit is located in the electronics box in the area of the front passenger's feet, under the carpet.
Necessary operating materials/wearing parts: Emergency power supply battery.
Removal
Caution: Before disconnecting the battery, the service mode of the Telematik control unit must be activated, refer to Section Replacing the battery.
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
2. Remove the lower trim at the A-pillar, lift the carpet.
3. Release the cover of the electronic unit (arrows in the accompanying illustration)

4. Remove the Telematik control unit from the electronics box.
Caution: Do not disconnect the control unit.
5. Remove both screws on the bottom of the Telematik control unit (arrows) and remove the cover.

6. Disconnect the connector (1) and remove the emergency battery (2).

Installation
1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
2. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
Caution: After connecting the battery, the service mode of the Telematik control unit must be deactivated, refer to Section Replacing the battery
