Table of contents: Replacing the relay ↓ Replacing fuses ↓
Most of the car's electrical consumers are protected by fuses. Individual components of the lighting system, with the exception of the brake lights, are protected by electronic relays.
If too much current flows, the electrical circuit of the protected components is electronically interrupted. After a short time, the electrical circuit is automatically closed again. If the fault occurs again, the electrical circuit is interrupted again.
Use fuses with the required amperage rating.
Do not repair or bridge blown fuses.
Determine the cause of the burnout.
Replacing the relay
Warning: The relays are located in the instrument panel on the driver's side.
1. Remove the pocket from the driver's side, refer to Section Removal and installation the pocket on the driver's side.
2. Remove the damaged relay using special pliers, for example, HAZET 4770-1.
3. Check the functionality of the relay and, if necessary, replace it with a new one, refer to the relevant Section.
4. Install the relay on the board.
5. Reinstall the driver's pocket, refer to Section Removal and installation the pocket on the driver's side.
Replacing fuses
To protect electrical equipment wires and consumers from damage during short circuits and overloads, electrical circuits have fuses.
1. Before replacing a fuse, be sure to turn off the ignition and all consumers.
2. The fuses are located in the fuse boxes on the left side of the instrument panel, behind the cover (refer to the illustration in Specifications).
3. Open the cover by inserting a flat-sided screwdriver into the bottom rear of the cover (arrow) and pushing the cover out.
4. The location of the fuses is shown on the back of the fuse box cover.
Warning: The location of the fuses varies depending on the equipment and year of the vehicle. In addition, the crank handle for the emergency closing of the sliding roof panel is also located there.
Warning: If the fuse blows again, check the electrical circuits.
