1. Apply the handbrake, chock the front wheels, engage first gear or move the selector lever to "R". Raise the rear of the vehicle and install jack stands. Remove rear wheels.
2. If need to do "fast", the thickness of the pads can be checked by looking through the viewing window in the rear caliper, Use a steel ruler to measure the thickness of the pads along with the backings. The thickness must not be less than the allowable specifications.
3. View through the viewing window gives an inaccurate measurement result. For a more accurate check, the pads must be removed and cleaned. In this case, you can also check the operation of the caliper, the condition of the disk itself on both sides. Chapter 9 contains a detailed description of the pad test.
4. If the condition of at least one pad is unsatisfactory, all four pads must be replaced as a set. Operation details are described in chapter 9.
5. After completing the check, install the wheels and lower the car.
