1. Let the engine cool down for at least an hour after driving. Check the condition of the exhaust system from the engine to the exhaust pipe. It is most convenient to carry out the check on a lift.
2. Check for obvious burnouts in the exhaust system, severe corrosion and damage. All fastenings of the exhaust system must be intact and reliable. Usually burnt places are found by the deposits of burning around the holes.
3. Try to move the pipes. If exhaust system components rub or rattle against the body and suspension components, replace worn system mounts or, if possible, separate the system parts and rotate them to correct the deficiencies.
