- 1 - metal lever mechanism;
- 2 - metal strip;
- 3 - rubber nozzle of the wiper blade.
To remove the brush (1) windshield wiper with its lever (2), you need to pull down the small lever (arrow) so that the latch pops out of the recess on the lever.
Wiper arm (1) can be removed from the axis after pressing the protective cap (2) and loosening its fixing nut. Move it back and forth a little to loosen the teeth.
Constant control
1. Turn on the ignition.
2. Do the wipers work at both speeds and do they return to their original position after being switched off?
3. Do the wiper intervals and wiper/washer automatics work?
4. Does water come out of the washer jets when the wiper switch is pulled?
Replacement wiper blades
Windshield wiper rubber lasts about six months. After that, you must decide whether you want to replace the entire wiper blade or - cheaper - just the rubber nozzle. In any case, you need to remove the wiper blade from its arm.
1. Fold out the wiper arm.
2. Press down the plastic lever on the middle axis of the wiper blade.
3. At the same time, remove the brush from the wiper arm.
4. At installation press a screen wiper brush so that its groove entered a fixing ledge on the lever.
5. Do not mix up the wiper blades: the curved wiper blade is placed on the passenger side next to the driver.
Replacing the rubber wiper nozzle
If the metal linkage is in order, then only the rubber wiper nozzle needs to be replaced:
1. Buy a sample rubber nozzle.
2. Bend the mounting clips around the rubber cap on the end of the wiper blade.
3. Take out the old rubber nozzle and the metal strip inserted on both sides, put it on the new nozzle. Make sure the bend is turned down (to glass).
4. Insert a new nozzle and tighten the mounting clips again.
Removing the wiper arms
1. Open the hood.
2. Press the black protective cap forward on the wiper shaft and unscrew the hex nut underneath. Remove the washer.
3. With sharp movements, remove the lever from the finely splined connection of the wiper axis.
4. Do not confuse the wiper arms: embossed letter «F» stands on the lever on the driver's side, «IN» - on the passenger side next to the driver.
5. When installing, screw the wiper arms so that each of them lies on the black line marking under the windshield.
6. To do this, make sure the wiper motor is in the park position.
7. Tighten the hex nuts to 16 Nm.
8. Run the wipers as a test and check the end position again.
Tip: Rattles and squeaks when the windshield wipers operate are due to the incorrect installation of the angle of the wiper rubber nozzle in relation to the glass. The rubber nozzle must be at right angles to the glass so that - depending on the direction of travel - it can tilt to one side and the other. If the angle is incorrect, this is corrected by spreading the wiper arm.
