On the disassembled brush we have marked the following parts with numbers
- 1 - metal lever mechanism;
- 2 - metal strip;
- 3 - rubber wiper blade attachment.
To remove the wiper blade (1) from its arm (2), pull down the small lever (arrow) so that the retainer pops out of the recess on the arm.
The wiper arm (1) can be removed from the axle after pressing back the protective cap (2) and loosening its mounting nut. Move it back and forth a little to release the teeth.
Constant control
1. Turn on the ignition.
2. Do the windshield wipers work at both speeds and do they return to their original position after being turned off?
3. Does the windshield wiper interval and windshield wiper/washer automation function?
4. Does water come out of the washer system sprayers when you pull the windshield wiper switch?
Replacing windshield wiper blades
Windscreen wiper rubber lasts for about six months. After that, you must decide whether you want to replace the entire wiper blade or – cheaper – just the rubber tip. In either case, you need to remove the wiper blade from its arm.
1. Fold back the wiper blade arm.
2. Press down the plastic lever on the middle axle of the wiper blade.
3. At the same time, remove the blade from the wiper arm.
4. When installing, press the wiper blade so that its groove fits into the mounting protrusion on the arm.
5. Do not mix up the wiper blades: The curved wiper blade is placed on the passenger side next to the driver.
Replacing the rubber wiper blade
If the metal lever mechanism is in good condition, then only the rubber wiper blade needs to be replaced:
1. Buy a rubber nozzle according to the sample.
2. Bend the retaining clips around the rubber cap at the end of the wiper blade.
3. Remove the old rubber nozzle and the metal strip inserted on both sides, place it on the new nozzle. Make sure that the bend is turned downwards (towards the glass).
4. Insert the new nozzle and tighten the retaining clips again.
Removal windshield wiper arms
1. Open the hood.
2. Press the black protective cap at the front of the wiper shaft and unscrew the hex nut underneath. Remove the washer.
3. Using sharp movements, remove the lever from the fine-spline connection of the windshield wiper shaft.
4. Do not mix up the windshield wiper levers: the embossed letter "F" is on the lever on the driver's side, "B" is on the passenger side next to the driver.
5. When installing, screw the wiper arms so that each of them lies on the black dashed marking under the windshield.
6. To do this, you need to make sure that the windshield wiper motor is in the parking position.
7. Tighten the hex nuts to 16 Nm.
8. To test, start the windshield wipers and check the end position again.
Tip: Rattling and squeaking when the windshield wipers are working are caused by the incorrect angle of the rubber wiper attachment relative to the glass. The rubber attachment should be at a right angle to the glass so that – depending on the direction of movement – it can tilt to one side or the other. If the angle is incorrect, this can be corrected by moving the wiper arm.
