Defective injectors can cause engine detonation or bearing damage. In this case, let the engine idle and loosen the union nuts of the injectors one by one. If it disappears when loosening the union nut of one of the injectors, then this injector is faulty.

Examination

Faulty injectors can be detected by loosening the union nuts of the fuel injection line one by one, with the engine running at fast idle. If the number of revolutions remains constant after loosening the union nut, this indicates a faulty injector. You can check the injectors using a pressure gauge (is done in the workshop).

The first signs of injector malfunctions appear as follows:
  • Cylinder misfires
  • Detonation in one or more cylinders
  • Engine overheating
  • Engine power loss
  • Excessively black exhaust gases
  • High fuel consumption

Removal

Clean the injection line with cold cleaner.

Clean the injection line with cold cleaner.

Remove the injection pipes as a set, for which purpose loosen the union nut with a slotted open-end wrench, for example, HAZET 4560.

Caution: Do not change the bend shape.

Remove the injectors using the SW 27 replacement head.

Installation

Use new heat-insulating gaskets between the cylinder head and the injector. The recess should point upwards, the arrow points towards the cylinder head.

Tighten the injectors to 70 Nm.

Tighten the fuel injection lines to 25 Nm.
