1. Headlight alignment should ideally be done by an Audi dealer using special equipment, but as a last resort, an acceptable adjustment can be made as follows.
2. Install the car (net weight, properly inflated tires), on a flat surface against a wall or garage door.
3. Draw a horizontal line on the wall or door at the height of the center of the headlights. Draw a vertical line corresponding to the center line of the car, then measure from this point to either side of the horizontal lines corresponding to the centers of the headlights.
4. Drive the vehicle back approximately 10 meters away from the wall or door. Turn on the high beam, the areas of maximum illumination should coincide with the marks of the center of the headlights.
5. Adjust the headlights using a socket wrench through the top viewing holes. The outer screw adjusts the height, the inner screw adjusts the horizontal position (photo). By turning the outer screw clockwise, the light beam is lowered. Please note that some models are equipped with a height adjustment knob on the back of the headlight, this is used to adjust when carrying a heavy load (photo). Some models also have an electrical adjustment system.
