Upper control arm
Note: Upper control arm installation details are shown on illustrations 1.1b-c. On models with air suspension, the upper arm is removed from the removed shock absorber (see subsection above). The following illustrations are given using models with a spring stand as an example.
1. Remove the suspension strut or air shock absorber (see section 5 or 6).
2. Remove the bolts (1 and 2 in the illustration) and remove the upper control arm.

3. Installation is carried out in reverse order. First tighten the upper control arm mounting bolts by hand, then set the distance (And in the illustration) = 155 mm, and only then tighten the lever bolts to the required torque.

Lower control arm
Note: Lower arm installation details are shown on illustrations 8.1 Chapter 7.
4. Remove the wheel and wheel arch liner (see Chapter 10).
5. Secure the VW552 compression tool into the opening at the top of the wheel arch (And in illustration 6.9 of Chapter 9) and on the upper arm (B). Using this device, select the weight of the upper arm.
6. Loosen the lower arm mounting nut on the steering knuckle, squeeze the arm out of the knuckle and release the nut (see illustration).

7. Remove the bolts (1 and 2 in the illustration) and remove the lever from the steering knuckle.

8. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Finally, check the wheel alignment angles.
