Transmission oil temperature approx. 20°C (room temperature).

Gearbox installed: Place the car on a lift and in a pit so that it stands absolutely horizontally. Remove the rear sound insulation "2". Risk of damage to the gearbox. Without oil or with insufficient oil (MTF) in the gearbox: do not start the engine, the car cannot be towed.

Gearbox removed: Secure gearbox to engine and gearbox holder.

Gearbox removed or installed: Place a device for filling and pumping out oil under the gearbox. To prevent transmission fluid (MTF) from getting into the upper lugs of the tunnel support, place a rag on the tunnel support. The description below distinguishes between vehicles with a transmission fluid (MTF) drain plug and vehicles with a transmission fluid temperature sensor 2 "G754" instead of a transmission fluid (MTF) drain plug. Place a suitable rag on the tunnel crossmember.

Cars with a transmission fluid (MTF) drain plug "arrow"

The transmission fluid drain plug (MTF) is located behind the transmission fluid pan. Unscrew the transmission fluid drain plug (MTF) "arrow" from the bottom of the gearbox housing. Drain the transmission fluid (MTF). Tighten the transmission fluid drain plug (MTF) "arrow".

Cars with transmission oil sensor 2 "G754" "1" instead of the transmission fluid (MTF) drain plug

The gearbox is installed in the vehicle: turn off the ignition. The connector of the transmission oil temperature sensor 2 "G754" may only be disconnected when the ignition is off. When the ignition is on, the gearbox goes into emergency mode. In this case, the high temperature operation counter is triggered and after 10 minutes a fault entry is made in the automatic transmission control unit "J217". Disconnect plug "2" from the transmission oil temperature sensor 2 "G754" and tie it up from above. Protect connector "2" and the contacts of the transmission oil temperature sensor 2 "G754" from transmission oil. If transmission oil (MTF) gets into the contacts, they must be cleaned immediately. Transmission oil (MTF) deteriorates the contact properties of the plug connections. Unscrew the transmission oil sensor 2 "G754" "1". Drain the transmission oil (MTF). Tighten the transmission oil temperature sensor 2 "G754--1" and insert the connector "2".
