Warning: Before removing the V-belt, mark the direction of rotation on the belt with chalk or a felt-tip pen. Changing the direction of rotation of a belt that has been in use can cause it to break. When installing the belt, pay attention to its correct position on the pulleys.

1. Set the front panel to the maintenance position, refer to Section Setting the front panel to the maintenance position.

9. Using a socket wrench, turn the tensioner in the direction of the arrow in the accompanying illustration until the locking holes are positioned one above the other. In this position, insert the AUDI-T10060 tool or a suitable mandrel (∅ 4 mm) into the holes, thus securing the tensioner.

Installation



1. Place the V-belt first on the crankshaft pulley (1) and idler rollers (4/6) and then on the tension roller (7).
  • 1 — Crankshaft

  • 5 - Generator
  • 6 - Guide roller 2

2. Turn the tension roller slightly counterclockwise with a socket wrench, remove the locking pin and move the tension roller back.

3. Place the V-belt on the compressor pulley.

4. Install the torque wrench (C) with an 8 mm socket wrench as shown in the accompanying illustration, and tighten the V-belt in the direction of the arrow to a torque of 7 Nm.

5. In this position, tighten the bolt (A) with a torque wrench to 22 Nm.



6. Install the tension roller cover.

7. Secure the viscous coupling fan by holding the hub with a second wrench.
