1. Protective covers of drive shafts are very important elements, because. they protect the constant velocity joints (SHRUS) against dirt, water and other foreign objects causing damage. External contamination of protective covers with oil and grease can lead to premature failure of the material of the covers, so it is recommended to periodically wash the covers with soap and water.
2. Raise and place the vehicle on stands.
3. Remove the lower cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of the upper engine cover / lower protection of the engine compartment / subframe.
4.Light up the protective covers (1) and check them for cracks. Pay attention to the presence of traces of grease on the covers and near them. If there are signs of cracks or leakage of lubricant, the cover must be replaced.
5. If the boot is retracted or damaged, it must be replaced immediately.
6. Check the reliability of the fastening of the clamps (2).
7. At the same time, check the general condition of the CV joints by holding the shaft while trying to turn the wheel. Try again, holding the inner CV joint and rotating the shaft. Any noticeable play indicates wear on the pivot, wear in the shaft grooves, or a loose shaft lock nut.
8. Reinstall the bottom cover of the engine compartment.
9. Lower the car onto its wheels.
