Battery load test (Audi A4 B6)

In combination with the electrolyte density test, the battery load test provides an indication of the battery condition. A battery tester is required for this. If the VAS 5096 or VAS 5097 is used (or older devices VAS 1979 or VAS 5033), then you do not need to remove the battery. Turn off the ignition and connect the clamping collets of the measuring device wires to the battery terminals. The load current on the measuring device is set depending on the battery capacity:

Due to the heavy load during this test, the battery voltage drops, but with a healthy battery, the voltage only drops to the minimum value. If the voltage drops quickly to the minimum value and below, the battery is poorly charged or defective. If the voltage drops below the minimum acceptable value, replace the battery!
