If you are installing a radio that is different from the one fitted by Audi, you may need an adapter to connect it. Also, keep the following in mind:
- Interference suppression kits must have a license to operate, otherwise the license to operate the vehicle may become invalid.
- Some radios receive a speed signal to automatically adjust the gain based on vehicle speed. The corresponding cable must not be short-circuited, otherwise problems with the motor control cannot be ruled out.
- After connecting the power supply, communication between the radio and combined instrument panel usually starts automatically (otherwise enter the code). In this case, the code in the radio is compared with the code that was stored in the memory when the anti-theft code was initially activated. If the codes match, the radio can be operated. If the receiver is installed in another vehicle, it will be blocked.
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery before removing the radio. Follow the instructions for removing the battery (see chapter «Electrical equipment»).
2. Insert the release tools into the appropriate slots until they engage.
3. Pull the receiver out of the instrument panel by pulling on the attachment lugs. In this case, the pull-out brackets must not be pressed to the side or warped.
Removing the radio: Because the radio simply pops out, this job is quick. Well, if this convenience is not used by a thief
4. Remove plug connections. Not all receivers are equipped with connectors that cannot be confused with each other, so it is best to label them accordingly.
5. To install the receiver, remove both drawers from the receiver and connect the connectors.
6. Slide the receiver into the instrument panel until it engages.
7. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
8. If necessary, enter the passcode. To do this, refer to the instruction manual of the radio receiver.
