The standard equipment of the car includes a radio receiver with a coded anti-theft device, which is made on the basis of a microprocessor. After disconnecting the radio from the car's on-board network (battery removal, radio removal, or initial radio installation) you must enter a security code. The radio can only be switched on after entering the correct code.
Before removing wire «masses» from the battery, check if you have the radio code. In the absence of a security code, the radio can only be put into operation at an authorized Audi workshop.
The individual radio security code is contained in the technical documentation attached to the car upon sale.
To remove the radio, you must use two special keys 3344 (pic. 14.72).
Withdrawal
Remove the wire «masses» with battery.
Attention
- When the wires are disconnected from the battery terminals, the data on the recorded malfunctions are erased in the memory blocks of the control devices, therefore, before disconnecting the wires, it is necessary to contact the workshop to recall the malfunctions recorded in it. After connecting the wires to the battery terminals, it is necessary to activate and reprogram the power windows, as well as the position of the rear-view mirrors and seats.
- If the car has a radio with a code, then before disconnecting the wires from the terminals from the battery, check that there is a code to reactivate the receiver. Otherwise, it will be possible to put the radio receiver into operation only at a specialized station.
Insert the two keys into the narrow slots on both sides of the radio until the keys lock into place. The inscriptions on the keys should be located at the top. Key with an inscription "Top L" must be installed on the left side, and with the inscription "Top R" on the right side of the radio.
Remove the radio from the socket by the key heads, being careful not to warp or pull it to the side (pic. 14.73).
Disconnect the speaker and antenna electrical connectors from the radio receiver, as well as the multi-pin connector for supplying voltage to the radio receiver. If non-multi-pin connectors are used for connection, label the connectors before disconnecting them.
Installation
Remove the special keys from the radio.
Connect the electrical connectors to the back of the radio.
Insert the radio receiver into the socket of the instrument panel until the spring clips click into place.
Connect wire «masses» to the battery.
Perform operations to memorize the positions of seats, mirrors, etc., as well as set the time on the clock and enter the code into the radio.
Encoded anti-theft device. The device is based on a microprocessor. After disconnecting the radio from the car's electrical network (removal of the battery, dismantling of the radio receiver or its initial installation) you must enter a security code. The radio can only be switched on after entering the correct code.
After turning on the radio, the display shows SAVE - you can enter the anti-theft code.
Code introduction
The code number is affixed to the radio manual.
To enter the correct code, you must perform the following steps.
- Turn on the radio - the display shows SAVE.
- Simultaneously press the TP and RDS buttons and hold them until the indication appears "1000". Release the buttons. In no case do not press the TP and RDS buttons again, otherwise the number 1000 will be taken as a code.
- With buttons 1-4 (fixed settings) enter the code number: the first digit of the code is entered with button 1, the second digit with button 2, etc. Buttons 5 and 6 are not used.
- Simultaneously press the TP and RDS buttons and hold them until SAVE appears.
- Release the buttons.
The radio is now ready for use.
If a mistake was made when entering the code, then the display will show SAVE in a flashing mode, which then lights up permanently.
Try installing the code again. The number of attempts is shown on the display.
If an incorrect code is entered again, the receiver will be blocked for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, you can repeat two attempts to set the code. If they are unsuccessful, the receiver will be blocked for 1 hour.
