The standard equipment of the car includes a radio receiver with a coded anti-theft device which is based on a microprocessor. After disconnecting the radio receiver from the vehicle's on-board network (removing the battery, radio or initial installation of the radio) you must enter a security code. The radio can only be turned on after entering the correct code.
Before removing the ground cable from the battery, check whether you have the radio code. Without the security code, the radio can only be put into operation at a specialist Audi service station.
The individual security code for the radio receiver is contained in the technical documentation included with the vehicle upon sale.
To remove the radio receiver, you need to use two special keys 3344 (fig. 14.72).

Removal
Remove the ground cable from the battery.
Attention
- When disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, the memory units of the control units erase the data on the recorded faults, so before disconnecting the wires, you must contact a workshop to recall the faults recorded in the memory. After connecting the wires to the battery terminals, it is necessary to activate and reprogram the electric windows, as well as the position of the rear-view mirrors and seats.
- If the car has a radio receiver with a code, then before disconnecting the wires from the terminals from the battery, check that there is a code to reactivate the receiver. Otherwise, the radio receiver can only be put into operation at a specialized station.
Insert the two keys into the narrow slots located on both sides of the radio until the keys are locked. The inscriptions on the keys should be located at the top. The key with the inscription "Top L" should be installed on the left side, and the key with the inscription "Top R" - on the right side of the radio.
Use the key heads to pull the radio out of the socket, being careful not to tilt it or pull it to the side (fig. 14.73).

Disconnect the speaker and antenna electrical connectors from the radio, as well as the multi-pin connector that supplies power to the radio. If non-multi-pin connectors are used for the connections, label the connectors before disconnecting them.
Installation
Remove the special keys from the radio.
Connect the electrical connectors to the back of the radio.
Insert the radio into the instrument panel socket until the spring clips snap into place.
Connect the ground wire to the battery.
Perform the operations to memorize the positions of seats, mirrors, etc., and also set the time on the clock and enter the code into the radio.
Anti-theft coded device. The device is based on a microprocessor. After disconnecting the radio from the car's electrical network (removing the battery, dismantling the radio or installing it for the first time) you must enter a security code. The radio can only be turned on after entering the correct code.
After turning on the radio, the display shows the message SAVE - you can enter the anti-theft code.
Entering the code
The code number is pasted on the radio receiver operating manual.
To enter the correct code, you must perform the following steps.
- Turn on the radio - the display shows SAVE.
- Press and hold the TP and RDS buttons simultaneously until the display shows "1000". Release the buttons. Do not press the TP and RDS buttons again under any circumstances, otherwise the number 1000 will be taken as a code.
- Using buttons 1-4 (fixed settings) enter the code number: the first digit of the code is entered with button 1, the second digit with button 2, etc. Buttons 5 and 6 are not used.
- Press and hold the TP and RDS buttons simultaneously until SAVE appears.
- Release the buttons.
Now the radio is ready for use.
If an error was made when entering the code, the display will show the SAVE indicator in a flashing mode, which then remains on continuously.
Try setting the code again. The number of attempts is shown on the display.
If the wrong code is entered again, the receiver will be blocked for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, you can repeat two attempts to set the code. If they are unsuccessful, the receiver will be blocked for 1 hour.
