1. Unhook the spring clips and carefully remove the top outer cover from the front of the engine (see paragraph 4 of chapter 2B).
2. Check that there are no delaminations or cracks on the belt along its entire length. This will require cranking the engine, which is carried out using a head with a knob, grabbing the crankshaft pulley bolt. Make sure there are no chafing on the back surface. Check for traces of oil from leaky seals.
3. With a steel ruler or caliper, measure the width of the belt in several places. If the belt width is less than 22 mm at least at one point, replace it as described in chapter 2B.
4. After completing the check, install the upper front belt cover.
