1. Make sure all washer nozzles are clean and able to pass a sufficient amount of washer fluid. The jet from the nozzles should hit slightly above the middle of the windshield or headlight. If two twin windshield washer jets are installed, one jet should hit just above the center line of the windshield, the other jet a little higher. If necessary, adjust the direction of the jets with a tailor's pin.
2. Check the condition of the brushes. Rubber blades should not be cracked or heavily worn. Check the ability of the brushes to wipe the glass. If the brushes leave dirty spots on the glass, it may be due to defective clamps designed to bend the brush depending on the curvature of the glass. Worn brushes must be replaced. The brushes must not protrude beyond the surface to be wiped and must stop in the correct position after the end of the stroke. If this is not the case, the leash setting needs to be adjusted (see chapter 12).
