Note: If the vehicle is equipped with a radio with a secret code, read the "Disconnecting the Battery" section before disconnecting the battery.
Disabling and removing
1. The battery is installed under the hood near the engine shield (Fig. 3.1).
2. Loosen the tip nut and remove the ground wire from the battery (Fig. 3.2).

3. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery in the same manner.
4. Loosen the bolt and remove the battery mounting bracket.
5. If equipped, disconnect the vent tube from the battery.
6 Carefully lift the battery straight up and out of the engine compartment.
Installation
7. Clean the battery area and lightly lubricate the battery mounting bolt.
8. Install the battery in place and install the mounting bracket. Tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
9. If provided, install the ventilation tube.
10. Connect the positive (+) cable to the battery terminal and tighten the terminal nut.
11. Connect the negative (-) wire to the terminal and tighten the terminal nut.
12. Activate the radio by entering the secret code.
