Removal
1. Remove the plugs, unscrew the fastening nuts and remove the top cover from the engine. The vacuum pump is installed in the rear left part of the cylinder block.
2. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump.
3. Loosen the mounting bolt, then carefully remove the fork-shaped clamp securing the vacuum pump to the block.
4. Remove the vacuum pump from the cylinder block and remove the sealing ring. Discard the ring - a new one is required for installation.
Installation
5. Install a new seal on the pump, apply a thin layer of engine oil to facilitate installation.
6. Install the pump in its place, ensuring that the slot in the drive gear aligns with the protrusion on the drive shaft (Fig. 20.6).

7. Install the fork clamp and securely tighten its mounting bolt.
8. Connect the vacuum hose to the pump and secure it with a clamp.
9. Install the top cover onto the engine and tighten the nuts securely.
10. Make sure the mating surfaces are clean and dry and install a new gasket on the head.
11. Install the pump onto the head, aligning the new drive key with the slot on the camshaft, install the pump mounting bolts and tighten them securely.
