4-cylinder engines
Removal
1. The vacuum pump is mounted on the left side at the rear of the cylinder block.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump.
3. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the pump mounting clamp.
4. Remove the pump from the cylinder block and remove the sealing ring.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Check that the groove on the driven gear of the pump (arrow) is correctly aligned with the driving gear during installation.
5-cylinder engines
Removal
1. The vacuum pump is mounted on the left side of the cylinder head.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump.
3. Unscrew the fastening nuts.
4. Remove the pump and pusher.
5. Remove the sealing ring.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Checking and repairing
1. Using a vacuum gauge, check that the vacuum created by the pump is at least 500 mmHg.
2. If the pump is faulty, it must be replaced.
