Table of contents: Execution order ↓ Disassembling the headlight ↓
Execution order
1. Remove the direction indicator housing.
2. Remove the bumper (chapter Body parts).
3. Remove the two mounting screws at the top of the lock support plate; the other two are under the headlight.
4. Pull the headlight forward.
5. At the rear of the headlight, disconnect both multi-pin connectors.
Disassembling the headlight
If the headlight shade is damaged or the reflector has become matte, you do not need to change the entire headlight at once. Both parts can be purchased as spare parts. To install them, you need to disassemble the dismantled headlight.
1. Remove the rubber diaphragm from the clamps at the top of the diffuser.
2. Press down all the fastening clips around the perimeter of the headlight shade.
3. Remove the diffuser and sealing rubber.
4. Carefully press and remove the chrome diaphragm around the reflector.
5. Remove the reflector. To do this:
6. If the headlight does not have a fog light, carefully press the reflector out of the brackets.
7. If the headlight has a fog light, turn both set screws until the reflector can be removed by hand.
8. At the bottom of the support point (connection to the light range controller motor) the reflector is removed from the slots as follows:
9. Turn the servo motor to the right (left headlight) or to the left (right headlight) and remove it from the body in this way.
10. Remove the servomotor diagonally from the headlight housing and press it out of the grooves on the reflector.
11. After assembly, adjust the headlight.
Tip: Headlight lenses and reflectors do not necessarily have to be purchased from an Audi parts warehouse. Aftermarket stores get them directly from the manufacturer (Bosch or Valeo).
