Four-cylinder engines with fuel injection system Mopo-Motronic
1. Remove the two Phillips screws on top of the air filter cover (see illustration).
2. Release the latches on the air filter housing. The arrows mark the notch on the edge of the cover and the protrusion on the filter housing
3. Remove the cover and remove the replacement filter element.
When installing, do not forget that the recess on the edge of the cover must fit on the protrusion on the filter housing.
Four-cylinder engines with Digifant fuel injection system
4. Loosen the air intake hose clamp and disconnect the hose from the air filter.
5. Release the latches on the air filter housing.
6. Remove the cover and remove the replacement filter element. Low air pressure hoses can be left on (see illustration). The same procedure for removing the air filter on vehicles with diesel engines (see illustration 5.6a)
Five-cylinder engine
7. Loosen the air intake hose clamp on the air filter cover and remove the hose.
8. Depress the two latches on the filter cover and remove the cover by pulling it up.
9. Detach the right side of the cover by removing the two Phillips screws.
10. Remove the air intake above the air/fuel ratio regulator.
11. Wring out five brackets on the case of the air filter.
12. Remove the air/fuel ratio regulator together with the top of the air filter by pulling them up.
13. Remove the air filter element.
Six-cylinder engines
14. Disconnect the intake air mass flow meter plug for 2.8 liter engines.
15. Loosen the air intake hose clamp and remove the hose.
16. Wring out brackets on the case of the air filter.
17. Remove the cover and remove the air filter element.
Air filter housing - removal
Engines with Mono-Jetronic fuel injection system
18. Remove the air filter element (see above).
19. Turn away three nuts in the middle of the case and if is available, take out a retaining ring.
20. Remove all hoses and remove the air filter housing (see illustration).
Attention! Low-pressure supply hose to the warm air damper on the air filter inlet pipe, mounted on a brass or knurled connecting pipe. The hose to the throttle valve is attached to a plastic pipe without a notch.
Four-cylinder engine with Digifant fuel injection, five- and six-cylinder engines
21. Remove the air filter cover (together with the air-fuel ratio regulator) and remove the replacement filter element.
22. Disconnect the warm air hose from the heating unit.
23. Remove the hex bolt securing the bottom of the air filter housing.
24. Remove the retaining clutch of the air filter housing from the rubber cuffs on the wheel arch.
