Table of contents: Maintenance periods ↓ Oil change ↓
The reliability of the vehicle and its safety during operation are ensured by appropriate care and maintenance. What and when to check can be found in the detailed maintenance plan of the AUDI company.

Maintenance periods

The following maintenance instructions apply to the AUDI 80:
  • Maintenance with exhaust gas composition control — 1 time per year. For cars with diesel engines, engine toxicity testing is performed
  • Maintenance with additional work performed after the mileage Every 30,000 and 60,000 km.

Oil change

Oil change intervals depend on the vehicle type and model. For vehicles with a TD diesel engine manufactured before 6/92, oil must be changed every 7,500 km. For the same models manufactured after 7/92, as well as for all others, oil must be changed at 15,000 km, but at least once a year. If it turns out that the vehicle travels more than 15,000 km before the technical inspection period, then the oil must be changed without waiting for the service period. This can be done either independently or by resorting to the help of a workshop.

Self-service maintenance plan

At a mileage of 25,000 km per year, it is recommended to perform annual work scheduled for a mileage of 30,000 km.

All AUDI vehicles should have their brake fluid changed every 2 years.

The self-service maintenance plan provided in this manual is based on the recommendations of AUDI. At the same time, the sequence of work to be performed is indicated for the car enthusiast (see color insert at the end of the manual). The plan opens with a section listing the work that a car enthusiast must perform constantly and regularly, regardless of mileage.

All maintenance work is conditionally divided into those types that the car owner can perform on his own and those that should be entrusted to a workshop.

Some jobs, although not difficult, often do not have the necessary tools and devices. In such cases, you can use the services or tools provided at the gas station.

We do not recommend doing work intended for the workshop on your own. The workshop has the necessary tools and measuring devices. Doing it yourself in this case is not worth it, since the workshop will do this work much better and faster, and, in addition, such work requires technical knowledge.

If the AUDI 80 is new and has been in use for less than a year, or after an engine replacement, the manufacturer requires that all maintenance work be performed exactly at the specified times and only at AUDI service stations. Otherwise, you may lose your warranty.

The procedure for performing the check is also given in the relevant section of this manual.

Numerous AUDI 80 control units are capable of diagnosing faults themselves. These are control units for the fuel injection system, ignition, ABS, EBD, airbag or air conditioning.

Before starting any work, the vehicle is connected to a diagnostic device to print out the faults and defects registered by the corresponding control unit (see illustration 0.0). Directly from the diagnostic device panel, you can check the operation of individual electrical equipment units, such as the operation of the fuel pump relay, or the electromagnetic valve of the absorber or the idle speed regulator. The repair shop itself, without the customer's consent, performs a survey of the fault memory and prints them out for the purpose of eliminating them during maintenance (see illustration 0.0a).

Those who perform maintenance themselves may choose not to interrogate the fault memory, especially in cases where there have been no failures in the electronic equipment during the daily operation of the vehicle.
