Maintenance times
For the AUDI 80, the following maintenance instructions are available:
- Maintenance with control of the composition of exhaust gases - 1 time per year. For vehicles with diesel engines, an engine toxicity test is carried out
- Maintenance with additional work performed after every 30,000 and 60,000 km.
Oil change
Oil change intervals vary by vehicle type and model. On vehicles with a TD diesel engine manufactured before 6/92, the oil must be changed every 7,500 km. For the same models, but released after 7/92, as well as for all others, an oil change is necessary at a mileage of 15,000 km, but at least once a year. If it turns out that the car travels more than 15,000 km before the technical inspection is due, then the oil must be changed without waiting for the service period. This can be done both on your own and with the help of a workshop.
Self-maintenance plan
With a mileage of 25,000 km per year, it is recommended to carry out the annual work regulated for a mileage of 30,000 km.
Once every 2 years, all AUDI vehicles should change the brake fluid.
The do-it-yourself maintenance plan in this manual is based on AUDI recommendations. At the same time, for the motorist, the sequence of work performed is indicated (see color box at the end of the manual). The plan opens with a section with a list of work that the motorist must perform constantly and regularly, regardless of mileage.
All maintenance work is conditionally divided into those types that the car owner is able to perform on their own and those that should be entrusted to the workshop.
Some of the work, although not difficult, but often the motorist does not have the necessary tools and fixtures. In such a case, you can use the services or tools provided at the gas station.
We do not recommend doing the work intended for the workshop on your own. The workshop has the necessary tools and measuring instruments. In this case, independent work does not justify itself, since in the workshop this work will be done much better and faster, and, in addition, knowledge of technology is required for such work.
If the AUDI 80 is new and has been used for less than a year, or after an engine change, the manufacturer requires that all maintenance work be carried out exactly on time and only at service stations for AUDI. Otherwise, you may void the warranty.
The procedure for performing the test is also given in the corresponding section of this manual.
Numerous AUDI 80 control units are capable of diagnosing faults themselves. These are control units for the fuel injection system, ignition, ABS, EBD, airbags or air conditioning.
Before starting any work, the vehicle is connected to the diagnostic tool to print out the malfunctions and defects registered by the corresponding control unit (see illustration 0.0). Directly from the panel of the diagnostic tool, you can check the operation of individual electrical components, such as the operation of the fuel pump relay, or the canister solenoid valve or idle speed controller. The repair shop itself, without the consent of the customer, polls the memory of the fault memory and prints them out in order to eliminate them during maintenance (see illustration 0.0a).
Self servicers may choose not to interrogate the fault memory memory, especially if there have been no electronic faults during daily use of the vehicle.
