Recognition of malfunctions by means of a flashing code. Models from 8.88.
Malfunctions can be retrieved from memory by a special device on which information is presented in text form, or by a test diode lamp that gives information in the form of a code.
Check fuse no. 27 in fuse box, replace if necessary.
Connect a test lamp, eg VAG 1527, as shown in the figure to connectors -A- black and -B- brown in the footwell on the driver's side.
Start the engine and let it idle. When polling memory, do not give gas, because. code will be broken.
Attention: If the engine does not start due to a defect in the injection system, crank the starter for 6 seconds. Then, without turning off the ignition, read the information from the fault memory.
Connect plugs -C- and -D- together for 5 seconds. and disconnect again. The burning of the diode should turn into blinking. Each code consists of 4 groups of pulses of 4 pulses. The pause between groups lasts 2.5 seconds.
Separate pulses of groups form different code combinations.
Read codes and write. If the combination 4-4-4-4 is issued, then no faults are recorded and the test is completed.
If a fault code appears, it should be written down, Repeat the process until 0-0-0-0 appears (end of information). To repeat, connect plugs -D- and -C- for 5 seconds.
Determine faults according to the code table.
Clear memory. Switch off the ignition. Bridge the bottom contacts of the connector - black and brown - with an auxiliary wire.
Then turn on the ignition. After 5 sec. open the connection. This clears the fault memory.
