Fault recognition by flashing code. Models from 8.88.

Malfunctions can be retrieved from memory using a special device on which information is presented in text form, or a test diode lamp that provides information in the form of a code.
Check fuse #27 in the fuse box and replace if necessary.
Connect a test lamp, for example VAG 1527, as shown in the figure to the connectors "A" black and "B" brown in the footwell on the driver's side.
Start the engine and let it idle. When interrogating the memory, do not give gas, because the code will be broken.
Note: If the engine does not start due to a defect in the injection system, turn the starter for 6 seconds. Then, without turning off the ignition, read the information from the fault memory.
Connect plugs "C" and "D" together for 5 seconds and disconnect again. The LED should turn from lit to flashing. Each code consists of 4 groups of 4 pulses. The pause between groups lasts 2.5 seconds.
Individual pulses of groups form different code combinations.
Read the codes and write them down. If the combination 4-4-4-4 is displayed, then no faults are recorded and the test is complete.
If a fault code appears, it should be written down. The process should be repeated until 0-0-0-0 appears (end of information). To repeat, connect plugs "D" and "C" for 5 seconds.
Identify faults using the code table.
Clear the memory. Turn off the ignition. Short-circuit the lower contacts of the connector - black and brown - with an auxiliary wire.
Then turn on the ignition. After 5 seconds, open the connection. This clears the fault memory.
