Querying the fault database (Audi A4 B5)

The maintenance and inspection scope includes reading the fault database. Thanks to this, the workshop receives information about possible defects in the vehicle's electronic components without talking to the customer.

Those who take full responsibility for maintenance may choose to skip this part of the job, as they constantly monitor their car during daily operation – any malfunctions would be obvious.

Right: Under the small cover (2) next to the ashtray at the rear of the centre console is a connector (1) to which the VAG 1551 fault reading device is connected.

Left: The fault memory of the various control units is read by this device. With minimal use of control and measuring devices, a quick assessment and diagnosis of the relevant control unit and its sensors is possible. In addition, the information in the fault memory is erased with this device.
