Numerous control units in the Audi A4 are capable of diagnostics. These include the injection and ignition control unit, the anti-lock braking system, EDS, airbag or automatic climate control. Such a control unit is capable of diagnostics if it has a memory for storing information about malfunctions, which stores all malfunctions during driving. The control unit can be connected to a reading device in a workshop via a diagnostic connector at the rear of the center console.
Use
When used correctly, this happens as follows: the driver arrives with his Audi to the workshop with which he has a contract, and before all work begins, the car is connected to the device for reading faults. As a first step, the device prints out a complete fault report, which prints the contents of the databases of all devices capable of diagnostics.
At the same time, the tester, using the appropriate display, guides the mechanic through his program. At the end, without any doubt, it becomes clear where the repair should be carried out.
