If the engine does not start, faults should be systematically excluded. In order to start the engine, two basic prerequisites must always be met in gasoline engines: the fuel-air mixture must enter the cylinders, and the ignition spark must break through the spark plug electrodes. Therefore, the fuel supply should always be checked first.

To check for spark, unscrew the spark plug, insert it into the spark plug socket and connect the spark plug body to ground. Do not hold the spark plug socket or spark plug cable in your hand - use insulated pliers. Ask an assistant to start the engine. To avoid damaging the catalytic converter, you do not need to inject gasoline. Therefore, disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. If the spark does not jump, look for faults in the ignition system.
