1. If possible, place the engine on a table. Two to three wooden beams will be required to support the engine in a standing position
2. Cleanliness is very important, and if the engine is dirty, it must be cleaned with kerosene before starting work.
3. Do not operate the engine directly on the ground, sand is a real source of trouble.
4. As you remove, wash the parts in a kerosene bath. However, do not immerse parts with internal oil grooves.
5. It is advisable to prepare suitable containers for storing small parts according to their use, this will help with the assembly of the engine, and also prevent possible losses.
6. Always purchase complete gasket sets before disassembling the engine, but keep the old gaskets as a sample, or to replace if a new one is not available.
7. If possible, install nuts, bolts and washers in their original position after removal, this will protect the threads and will also be useful when reassembling the engine.
8. Save the unusable parts so that you can compare them with new parts.
