Regular, proper car care allows you to preserve and maintain its good qualities and appearance for a long time.

All necessary car care products can be purchased at a service station. The methods of their use are indicated on the packaging.

Warning: All chemicals may be hazardous to health if handled carelessly. Store separately, away from children.

Car wash

The best protection against the destructive effects of winter conditions is timely washing and preservation of the car, including the underbody, especially during the period when roads are sprinkled with technical salt.

The longer salt, dust, soot, insect residue, bird droppings, etc. remain on the vehicle, the more intense their destructive effect.

When washing your car with a hose, do not direct the stream at the keyholes, as the locks may freeze. Asphalt splashes, resin, soot, and oil stains are not always washed off with water. Remove as quickly as possible using appropriate care products, otherwise they will damage the paintwork.

Conservation

It should be carried out as often as possible.

Preservation protects the body surface from dirt accumulation (dirt-repellent effect), and paintwork from the destructive effects of the external environment, especially in industrially developed cities.

Polishing

Polishing is necessary only when the paint coating has become dull and the shine cannot be restored with the help of preservatives. If the polish does not contain preservative components, additional preservation will be required.

Matte surfaces and products made of artificial materials are not preserved or polished. Otherwise, their appearance can be spoiled. They are easy to wash with water.

Repairing paintwork damage

Minor damage to the paintwork, such as cracks, scratches, chips from stone impacts, etc., should be painted over as quickly as possible before rust appears. For this purpose, Audi cars have special road paint sets of the appropriate color.

If the damaged areas have managed to rust, first remove the rust, then apply an anti-corrosion primer and only after that - paint. Paint number - original (factory painting) indicated in the "Vehicle Identification Numbers" section.

Care of chrome parts

Stains and dirt can be removed using chrome cleaning products.

They can be preserved against corrosion, but at longer intervals. It is important that the preservatives are applied evenly and completely cover the entire chromed part.

Window glass

Snow and ice that has stuck or formed on the glass are removed with a scraper. Do not scratch them. Residues of rubber from brushes, silicone, oil and grease stains are removed with a glass cleaner.

Never wipe windows with a paint cleaning cloth - the remaining preservatives may cause the glass to become dull. Do not stick anything on glass with electric heating threads.

Tinted glass

The inside of the car windows are covered with a thin layer of chrome. To avoid scratching it during cleaning or washing, use a special leather cloth, sponge or soft towel, slightly moistened with water. It is not recommended to add aggressive chemical cleaning agents to it, such as, for example, dishwashing detergent.

It is not permitted to use scrapers on this side of the windows, or to cover them with stickers.

Windscreen wiper blades

They also need cleaning to work properly. If they are heavily soiled, for example by insect residue, they can be cleaned with a sponge. For safety reasons, it is recommended to replace the brushes with new ones once or twice a year.

Cleaning of exterior mirrors

In order to reduce the blinding effect of headlights from the car following behind, the surface of the outside mirrors is covered with a special protective layer.

In order not to damage it during cleaning, use a soft towel soaked in water or a leather cloth to wipe the glass. In this case, it is allowed to use any window cleaning agent or alcohol solution. Polishing is contraindicated. Snow or ice are removed with a special solvent - never with a scraper.

Seals for doors, lids and windows

To maintain the elasticity of rubber seals and increase their service life, we recommend treating them from time to time with a special product for the care of rubber products. It also protects the rubber from freezing in winter conditions.

Hatch opening mechanism

At least once a year, clean the guide rails and lubricate them with a silicone-based lubricant to improve sliding.

Cleaning of products made of artificial materials

It is usually done with a wet towel. If necessary, plastic or artificial leather products are washed with a special care product. Just not with solvents.

Cleaning of covers

Soft upholstery and covers are cleaned with a brush and a special cleaning agent or dry foam.

Cleaning seat belts

Seat belts should always be clean! A heavily soiled belt will not roll up properly. Wash in a mild soap solution, directly in the car, without dismantling.

Dry cleaning of belts is prohibited. The fabric fibers may be damaged. Also protect from contact with alkaline solutions. Roll up only dry.

Light metal discs

To maintain their decorative appearance in good condition, wash them thoroughly with water regularly, at least once a week, and clean them from brake lining dust and technical salt. After that, they are treated with a special non-alkaline agent. Once every three months, they are thoroughly rubbed with hard wax. Polishing and cleaning with abrasives is prohibited.

Restoration of damage to the paintwork is carried out in the usual manner described earlier.

Cleaning and preservation of the engine compartment

All engine compartment components and mechanisms, including the engine and clutch, are treated with anti-corrosion treatment.

At the same time, especially in winter, when roads are sprinkled with salt, additional protection against corrosion is necessary. For this, the entire underhood space, including the engine sump, is washed with water, after which it is preserved against the destructive effects of salt.

It is advisable to clean the engine at least once, with degreasing agents, but in no case with gasoline or diesel fuel. Degreasing solutions, among other things, remove rust. Preservatives are applied to all surfaces and joints.

The lower part of the engine compartment, especially the water drainage channels, are cleared of leaves and other accumulations of dirt that impede the free flow of water.

Car underbody protection

The bottom of the machine is reliably protected from chemical and mechanical influences of the external environment.

At the same time, it is possible that during operation the protective coating may be damaged for various reasons. In this regard, it is recommended to check its condition at least in the fall and spring and restore it if necessary.

Note for vehicles with exhaust gas catalytic converters. Additional heat-protective plates are installed around the catalytic converter to protect it from high exhaust gas temperatures. Removing them or reducing the number of these plates is prohibited. Any additional fastenings in this area are not allowed.

Cleaning and care of genuine leather products

For normal cleaning, a damp towel is enough. More thorough cleaning of leather covers is carried out with a sponge soaked in warm water with a small addition of a special detergent for this type of product.
