Adjusting the alternator drive belt tension (Audi 80 B2)

Loosen bolt 1 (see photo) securing the generator and nut 2 securing the generator to the tension bar.



Move the generator away from the engine so that the belt deflection is 10-15 mm when pressing hard with your thumb on the middle of the belt branch.

Tighten the nut securing the generator to the tension bar.

Check the belt tension.

Tighten the generator mounting bolt.
