Vehicles with electronic damping control and/or gas discharge lamps are equipped with dynamic headlight range control as standard. The damping control system and dynamic headlight range control require information on the compression and rebound travel of the springs of the front suspension and rear axle to operate. Therefore, information on the position of the left/right wishbone relative to the body is transmitted via a connecting rod to the rear left "G76" and rear right ground clearance sensor "G77". They transmit electrical signals to the electronic damping control unit "J250" and/or the left/right gas discharge lamp control unit "J343/344". On the front axle, these signals are transmitted from the front left ground clearance sensor "G78" and the front right ground clearance sensor "G289" to the electronic damping control unit "J250" and/or to the left/right gas discharge lamp control units "J343/344". These signals are required to determine the vehicle level. The automatic headlight range control reacts automatically to changes in ground clearance. The vehicle level may change in the following situations: working with a trailer. Various vehicle load conditions; the car is unloaded, the car is partially or fully loaded.

Note: On vehicles with electronic damping control, adaptation of the adjustment position and checking of the basic headlight adjustments is necessary in the following cases: the lower control arm has been removed and installed or replaced, the upper transverse arm has been removed and installed or replaced, the subframe has been replaced; installation work was carried out on the vehicle level sensor; the car level sensor was replaced; coil springs were replaced; the connection of the connecting rod of the vehicle's ground clearance sensor on the lower wishbone was loosened.

On vehicles with electronically controlled damping, the adjustment position has been re-adapted. After re-adapting the adjustment position on vehicles with lane assist, the lane assist control unit "J759" must be recalibrated.
