Locking up children

Locking children from the rear doors

The child locking device prevents the rear doors from being opened from the inside.

The child locking device prevents the rear doors from being opened from the inside.

The rear doors are equipped with a child locking device. The device is used with the car key.

Turning on the device
  • Turn the key inserted into the slot to the left B.

Disabling the device
  • Turn the key inserted into the slot to the right A.

When the child lock is activated, the inside door handle does not work. The door can only be opened from the outside.

Remote control of locks

The radio control lock system allows you to unlock and lock your car remotely.

Functions of the radio remote control system:
  • Unlocking and locking the car
  • Unlocking the trunk

Unlocking and locking of the vehicle is confirmed by flashing of all direction indicator lights. In addition, when the switches are in the door contact position, the interior lighting is automatically switched on or off.

The transmitter with the power supply is built into the handle of the radio key. The receiver is located in the car. The maximum range is determined by various factors. As the power supply is discharged, the range decreases.

An integral component of the radio key is a folding key bit, designed for mechanical unlocking and locking of the car, as well as starting the engine.

When replacing a lost key or after repair/replacement of the receiver, the radio remote control must be initialized by Audi. Only then can it be operated. The radio remote control meets all the necessary criteria and is approved for operation by the Federal Office for Telecommunications Licensing of the Federal Republic of Germany (Federal Approvals Office For Telccomunications Of The Federal Republic Of Germany). All components are labelled in accordance with the currently valid requirements. This operating permit forms the basis for operating approval in other countries.

Note
  • When the ignition is turned on, the radio remote control device is automatically turned off.
  • A temporary negative impact on the performance of the device may be caused by the overlap of transmitters operating in the same operating frequency band and located near the vehicle (for example, mobile phones, television stations).

Unlocking and locking the car

Unlocking and locking the car

Unlocking the car

  • Press button A for about 1 second.

Locking the car
  • Press button B for about 1 second.

Unlocking the trunk
  • Press button C for at least 1 second.

Unlocking of the vehicle is confirmed by the direction indicator lights flashing twice. Within approximately 60 seconds after unlocking the vehicle with button A, open the doors or the boot, as the vehicle is automatically locked after this time. This function prevents unintentional and prolonged unlocking of the vehicle.

On vehicles with central locking and additional security, pressing button A once unlocks only the driver's door and fuel filler flap, and pressing it twice unlocks the entire vehicle. When the doors and trunk are locked correctly, the direction indicators flash once.

In addition, when the vehicle is unlocked, the key-controlled memory for the seat and mirror positions is activated. The programmed position of the driver's seat and outside mirrors is automatically recalled.

Attention. No one should remain in a car locked from the outside with the burglar protection turned on - especially children, because the doors and windows cannot be opened from the inside. Locked doors prevent outside assistance to people in the car in an emergency - life-threatening!

Note
  • Use the remote control only when the doors and trunk are closed.
  • Using the remote control requires mandatory visual contact with the vehicle.
  • Do not press the lock button in the car until the key is inserted into the ignition, so as not to inadvertently lock the car and not to turn on the security alarm. If this still happens through carelessness, you should press the unlock button.

Synchronization

Synchronization of the radio key is necessary if the car cannot be unlocked.
  • Press one of the buttons on the radio key.
  • Unlock or lock the vehicle once using the radio key inserted into the door lock.

The maximum duration of the synchronization process should not exceed 1 minute.

Security alarm

Car with security alarm

The security alarm is triggered when the car is broken into.

The security alarm is designed to prevent attempts to break into and steal a car. In the event of unauthorized entry into the car, the system begins to give sound and light alarm signals.

Turning on the alarm

The security alarm is automatically activated when the car is locked with the key from the closed driver's door or trunk, or by remote radio control. The system enters guard mode approximately 30 seconds after the car is locked.

The security alarm will not be activated if the key is turned to the lock position twice within one second.

Turning off the alarm

When unlocking the car, the alarm system is only deactivated by using the radio remote control. The car is automatically locked if it is not opened within 60 seconds after the radio signal is sent.

When the vehicle is unlocked with the key from the driver's door, all other doors, the trunk and the fuel filler flap remain locked. To deactivate the alarm, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn on the ignition within 15 seconds of opening the vehicle from the driver's door. If the ignition is not turned on within 15 seconds, the alarm will sound.

When unlocking and opening the trunk with the key, the security alarm is immediately triggered. The alarm is turned off only after closing the trunk or after its operating cycle is completed.

When does the security alarm go off?

When the vehicle is locked, the system monitors the following potential attack targets:
  • underhood space (hood)
  • trunk
  • doors
  • ignition
  • radio system (only original Audi radio system)
  • car interior.

The security alarm is triggered immediately when one of the battery terminals is disconnected (provided that it is in guard mode) When unlocking and opening the trunk with the key, the security alarm is immediately triggered.

How do you turn off the security alarm?

The alarm system is switched off when the car is unlocked by the remote control or the ignition is turned on with the key. The alarm system is also switched off at the end of its operating cycle.

Direction indicator lights

The system confirms its readiness for operation, as well as the fact that the doors, hood and trunk are closed properly, by flashing the direction indicators when the car is locked.

If there is no light signal, check and, if necessary, close the doors, hood and trunk correctly. If you do this with the system already on, it will confirm the correctness of closing by subsequent flashing of the turn signal lights.

LEDs

After locking the vehicle, the LEDs next to the front door lock buttons flash quickly for about 30 seconds and then slowly. This indicates that the alarm system, including interior monitoring, is ready. A constant LED glow for about 30 seconds instead of a flashing code indicates a malfunction of the alarm system.

Note
  • Before leaving the car, make sure that all door lock buttons are pressed down, all doors, windows and the roof panel are closed. This ensures that the alarm system is fully operational.
  • When the vehicle is unlocked with the key from the driver's door, the central locking system is only fully operational after the ignition is switched on.

Interior control system

When the interior control system registers movements in the vehicle, the alarm is activated.

When the interior control system registers movements in the vehicle, the alarm is activated.

Disable the interior monitoring system if there is a risk of the alarm being triggered due to the presence of, for example, animals or moving objects in the vehicle.

Disabling the cabin control system
  • Press the button located on the door pillar.
  • Lock the car.

After disabling the interior control system, the diode in the button lights up. Additionally, the LEDs located next to the door locking buttons light up for about 3 seconds. After locking the car in fast mode, the LEDs located next to the door locking buttons flash for 3 seconds. After 30 seconds, the diodes start flashing slowly.

When the vehicle is locked again, the interior monitoring system is automatically reactivated.

Attention. No one should remain in a car locked from the outside - especially children, because the doors do not open from the inside. Locked doors in an emergency prevent outside assistance to people in the car - life-threatening!
