Rear parking assistance
The parking aid warns of obstacles in the rear.
When reversing, the 4-channel device uses ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance to an obstacle. The sensors are located in the rear bumper.
Inclusion
The parking aid is activated when reverse gear is engaged. This is confirmed by a short beep.
Reversing
The warning horn starts sounding from 1.60 m to the obstacle. As the distance to the obstacle decreases, the time intervals between sound pulses are reduced.
At a distance of less than 0.30 m, a continuous signal sounds. This means the obligatory cessation of movement in reverse.
Trailer operation
When a trailer is being driven, the parking aid is deactivated.
Device failure
Sounding for 5 seconds of a warning sound signal when the ignition is turned on means a malfunction of the device. Have the problem repaired at Audi.
To ensure the performance of the parking aid, keep the sensors clean and free of ice.
Attention
- Exist "dead" areas where sensors do not pick up objects. Pay special attention to small children and animals, as they are not always recognized by the sensors - risk of accident.
- The acoustic parking aid cannot replace the driver's attention. Responsibility for parking and other similar maneuvers lies with the driver.
Carefully. Objects such as a sight drawbar, thin lacquered rods or railings are not recognized by the system under certain circumstances and may cause damage to the vehicle.
Parking assistance front and rear
The parking aid warns of obstacles ahead and behind.
When driving in reverse or forward, the 8-channel device measures the distance to an obstacle using ultrasonic sensors. Four sensors are mounted in the front and rear bumpers to measure the distance (2 in the center, 2 on the sides).
Sensors begin to react when an obstacle is found at a distance:
Inclusion
The parking aid is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged. This is confirmed by a short beep.
The device can also be turned on manually by pressing the button on the center console. Switching on is also confirmed by a short beep. An additional diode is lit in the key.
Manual activation of the device is necessary when parking the car with the front bumper or when approaching an obstacle with the front bumper and you want to use the device.
Shutdown
The parking aid can be turned off manually by pressing the button. However, this is not particularly necessary, since at a speed of more than 15 km / h it is automatically switched off.
In addition, the device always turns off when the engine is stopped.
Signal tone
The driver is warned of the distance to an obstacle by means of audible signals from the front and rear sound sensors. The volume and pitch of the signals can be changed as desired by Audi.
Reversing
Reverse warning horn starts to sound when an obstacle is detected (distance range given above). As the distance to the obstacle decreases, the time intervals between sound pulses are reduced.
At a distance of less than 0.30 m, a continuous signal sounds. This means the obligatory cessation of movement in reverse.
Forward movement
Obstacle distance warning is carried out in the same way as when reversing. However, obstacle detection takes place at a shorter distance from the vehicle.
Maneuvering
When maneuvering, the beeps are temporarily switched off if you change gear (e.g. reverse/forward gear). However, as soon as the vehicle starts to move, the warning chime will sound again.
Trailer operation
When a trailer is being driven, the rear parking aid sensors are disabled. The front sensors remain in working position.
Device failure
The sounding of a continuous beep for approximately 5 seconds instead of a short beep when reverse gear is engaged or the device is turned on with the button indicates a malfunction of the system. Have the problem repaired at Audi. The absence of an acoustic signal when you try to turn on the device again indicates a malfunction.
To ensure the performance of the parking aid, keep the sensors clean and free of ice.
