Attention. The hood is made of aluminum. Therefore, when assembling, make sure that the intended fasteners are used (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.). In other cases, contact corrosion may occur at the connection point. Connecting elements must have a special protective layer of a greenish color.
Removal
Open the hood 1 (fig. 12.13) and place a clean rag under the corners of the hood to protect the car's paintwork when removing the hood.

Disconnect the supply hose and electrical connector on the windshield washer nozzle. Release the wiring.
Remove the hinge cover on the left side.
Mark the position of the hood. To do this, draw a felt-tip pen around the hinge of the nut 4 (fig. 12.13).
With the help of an assistant, support the hood.
Remove the gas-filled strut 5 (fig. 12.13). To do this, use a small screwdriver to lift the locking spring slightly - arrow (fig. 12.13). Remove the gas-filled strut from the spherical journal.
Remove the gas-filled strut from the lower spherical journal in the same way.
If a new gas strut is to be installed, the gas must be removed from the old strut to dispose of it. To do this, secure the gas strut in a vice by the section X shown in Fig. 12.14. To avoid accidents, be sure to clamp the strut by the indicated section. Saw the gas strut body at a distance equal to ⅓ of the length. Use goggles to protect your eyes when sawing the gas strut.

Unscrew nuts 4 (fig. 12.13) and with the help of an assistant, remove the hood.
Installation
Paint the hood if necessary.
With the help of an assistant, hang the hood. Position the hood according to the previously applied marks on the hinge and secure it with nuts. If a new hood is being installed, it must be adjusted.
Install the gas strut so that the piston rod points to the hood and the housing points to the body. Fasten the gas strut to the spherical journals and snap into place.
If the shock absorbers have been removed, they must be reinstalled. First, screw them in until they stop, then unscrew them enough so that the closed hood fits tightly on the fenders.
Snap the hood hinge cover into place.
Connect the hose to the windshield washer nozzles and the electrical connector for the nozzle heater. Snap the hose and electrical wiring into place.
