Removal
Attention! The procedure for removing and installing brake pads on cars with this type of caliper is generally the same as with the FN-3 caliper. For this reason, only the differences are listed below.
1. Lock the brake disc with a wheel bolt (see arrow in illustration).
3.1. Lock the brake disc with a wheel bolt (see arrow)
2. Pry up the brake shoe pressure spring with a screwdriver and remove it (see illustration 3.1).
3.3. Press the plug with a screwdriver, turn it 90° at the same time and remove it from the holder
3. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor plug. To do this, press the plug with a screwdriver, turn it 90° at the same time and remove it from the holder (see illustration).
4. Release the brake hose from the holder (see arrow in illustration).
3.4. Release the brake hose from the holder (see arrow)
5. Remove caps 1 from the guide pins (see illustration).
3.5. Remove caps 1 from guide pins
6. Unscrew both guide pins with a socket wrench (see illustration), remove the caliper from the brake pad guide and secure it to the body with wire without disconnecting the brake hose from it.
3.6. Unscrew both guide pins with a socket wrench
7. Remove the brake pads from the caliper and guide.
Installation
8. Press the piston into the wheel cylinder cavity using a suitable tool.
9. Secure the inner brake shoe to the wheel cylinder by inserting the retaining spring on the shoe into the cylinder. The wear sensor wire is attached to the inner shoe (see arrows in the illustration).
3.9. Secure the inner brake shoe to the wheel cylinder by inserting the retaining spring on the shoe into the cylinder (see arrows)
10. Install the outer brake pad 2 into the caliper and place the caliper together with both pads onto the guide (see illustration).
3.10. Outer 2 and inner 1 brake pads in the caliper
11. Secure the caliper to the brake pad guide with bolts, tightening them to 25 Nm. Avoid twisting the brake hose. Put the caps on the guide pins.
