Engine oil — replacement and topping up (Audi A4 B8)

The maintenance indicator on the car's dashboard informs you about the need to change the oil. It is recommended that oil changes be performed at an Audi dealer or service station. If oil top-ups are required between oil changes, use engine oils from the oil table according to VW standards. To do this, you need to know whether the vehicle is serviced under the reduced maintenance interval schedule ("Audi LongLife Service") or constant frequency of maintenance (preventive maintenance): see the last entry in the service book; is the vehicle equipped with a petrol or diesel engine? See the sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap. Is the vehicle equipped with a diesel particulate filter? See the transmission entry in the service book.

Gasoline engines: according to ACE A3 or API SM standard.

Diesel engines: according to ACE A C3 or API CF standard.

The oil level can be checked in the radio or MMI.



The car must be located on a level surface. Select: function key CAR ＞ oil level. Turn off the warm engine. Wait for about two minutes. View the oil level on the display. Add oil if the oil level on the indicator is almost at the "min" mark. Depending on driving style and operating conditions, oil consumption can be up to 0.5 liters per 1,000 km. During the first 5,000 kilometers, oil consumption may exceed this value.

Note: The oil level indicator on the display is for informational purposes only. If the oil level is insufficient, a message appears on the instrument panel indicating that the oil level has dropped to the minimum value. Add oil. If the hood has been opened, the current oil level will be displayed on the instrument panel the next time the ignition is turned on.

Note: If the oils listed in the table are not available, other oils can be added. To avoid damaging the engine, no more than 0.5 liters of the specified oils may be added at one time before the next oil change.
