Mandatory equipment: horn and alarm system
Operating specifications dictate that every vehicle must be equipped with a horn to give warning signals. Dual tone beep (fuse S40) located front left, between the bumper and the inner part of the wing. The two-tone horn is screwed to the holder and can only be removed and installed when the vehicle is raised. After removing the headlight and pulling out the sensor for the parking safety system from the front bumper, unscrew the nut 1 and remove the signal from the holder. In order to replace the horn, it is necessary to remove and reconnect the connector plug 2.
Dismantling the sound signal: Separate the detachable connection 2, unscrew the nut 1, remove the horn from the holder.
In addition to other signaling devices, the vehicle must be equipped with a hazard warning light system in order to secure a stationary vehicle in an emergency. Since the alarm system must work even when the ignition is off, its switch is powered directly from the battery plus. On the contrary, direction indicators are powered only when the ignition is on.
Be sure to check signaling devices before driving
Hazard Light System: With the ignition off, press the hazard warning switch on the steering column top trim. All four flashing lights and the signaling device in the switch should light up in the same rhythm.
Direction indicators: Turn on the ignition, press the turn signal switch lever. Both indicators on the corresponding side of the vehicle, as well as the signaling device in the control device, must flash in the same rhythm.
Brake lights: Put the car with its back against the wall of the garage, press the brake pedal. Red light should be reflected on the wall. You can also check the serviceability of the braking signal while moving in the column. Look through your rearview mirror to see if the brake light is reflected in the headlights or paintwork of the car behind you. If both lights don't work, check the fuse first (S14) and brake light switch.
Light signal: If you pull the turn indicator switch to the steering wheel when the ignition is on, then the high beam and the high beam switch should light up If the light signal does not function, despite the fact that the headlights are lit when the lights are on, first of all check if the voltage on both red wires (terminal 30), that go to the switch on the steering column. If voltage is applied, the light switch in the toggle switch is probably defective.
