Checking the oil level in a manual transmission (30,000 km) (Audi A4 B5)

1. Jellied (it's also a control one) the plug is located on the left side of the gearbox housing. Under the speedometer sensor, in some models it may be hidden behind the heat shield (Fig. 24.1). The plug may be "under a 17 mm hexagon" or "under a Torx head".



2. Apply the handbrake, raise the vehicle and install safety supports. The vehicle must be level to ensure accurate measurements.

3. Unscrew the plug.

4. The oil level should be 7 mm below the bottom edge of the filler hole. You can measure the level using a bent welding electrode or a piece of wire.

5. If necessary, add oil of the prescribed type, bringing the level to the prescribed level. If the oil requires frequent topping up, make sure there are no leaks, and eliminate any that are found.

6. Screw in the plug and tighten it to the specified torque. Lower the vehicle.
