Before you start
Make sure the car is on a level surface. Check the oil level before driving, but not earlier than 5 minutes after stopping the engine.
If the oil level is checked immediately after the engine is stopped, the remaining oil in the upper engine components will not have time to drain into the crankcase; the dipstick will show an incorrect result.
1. The dipstick is located on the left side of the engine (see "Check points under the hood"). Pull out the dipstick.

2. Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe off all the oil from the sludge. Insert the dipstick into the filler neck until it stops, then pull it out again.

3. Mark the oil level on the dipstick tip. The level should be between the upper and lower marks. About a liter of oil fills the level between the min- and max-marks.

4. Add oil through the filler neck. Turn the cap about a quarter of a turn counterclockwise and remove it. Add oil to the upper mark on the dipstick. Use a funnel to avoid spilling oil. Drink the oil slowly, constantly checking its level on the dipstick. Do not overfill.

Brand of motor oil
Modern engines are very demanding of the quality of motor oil. It is very important to use the oil recommended by the manufacturers in the engine.
Prevention
If you have to add oil to your engine very often, you need to check for oil leaks. Leave a sheet of clean paper under your car overnight and look for stains in the morning. If there are no leaks, your engine may be burning a lot of oil.
Always keep the oil level between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick. If the oil level is too low, serious engine damage may occur. Oil leakage through the seals may be due to too much oil in the crankcase.
