Idle speed adjustment (Audi A4 B5)

All Audi A4 models have automatic idle speed adjustment. There is no longer a setting screw that can be used to adjust anything. If the idle speed is incorrect, it is checked. Under correct test conditions, the speed should be adjusted to 680–820 rpm (2.6L engine) or 700-800 rpm (2.8L engine). If not, then:

• Check all components of the suction system (hoses, gaskets) for leaks. Penetrating additional air can change the idle speed so much that even the idle speed stabilization valve cannot even correct it.
• Have the computer with the fault memory read at the workshop. There may be another defect in the system.
