Crankcase exhaust ventilation (Audi A4 B5)

The engine passes 50-70 liters of exhaust gases per minute through the piston rings into the crankcase. Pressure is created, which must have an outlet from the engine so as not to overstrain the gaskets. Toxic gases, so as not to harm the environment, are returned from the engine to the suction channels or to the suction manifold. From there, the gases are sucked in by the engine again for complete combustion.

Tip: If the engine blows oil vapors into the crankcase exhaust ventilation too intensively, this indicates that the pistons and cylinders are already significantly worn.
