Help with battery and generator problems (Audi A4 B5)

Malfunction	Its reasons	Your help
A. The red charging indicator light does not light when ignition on	1. The battery is dead 2. The battery cable is broken, the terminals are disconnected or oxidized wires 3. Defective incandescent lamp 4. Break in the wire between the ignition switch and the charging indicator light and a generator 5. Break in the ground wire between the generator and the block engine 6. The graphite brushes are worn out 7. The voltage regulator is faulty 8. Generator faulty 9. After washing the engine too intensively, the moisture that had penetrated into it formed an insulating film of grease between slip rings and graphite brushes	Jump start the engine or have the vehicle towed Check the battery wires and terminals Replace Check the conductivity with a test lamp Check the wire Replace the graphite brushes Replace the regulator Repair the generator in the workshop If there is no improvement after a short drive, blow out the generator with compressed air air or wipe the contact rings and graphite brushes
