Discharged battery
- Start the engine by towing or auxiliary battery
Damaged wire from the battery, loose or oxidized terminals on the battery terminals
- Inspect the wires from the battery and their fastening terminals on the terminals
Control lamp burnt out
- Replace control light
Breakage of wires between the ignition switch, a control bulb and the generator
- Check the circuit with a tester with a test light

Worn contact carbon brushes
- Replace voltage regulator

Generator defect
- Send the generator in for repair
When washing the engine, the moisture that has penetrated has created an insulating oil film between the slip rings and the brushes.
- Blow out the generator with high pressure air or wipe the slip rings and carbon brushes
The battery charge indicator light stays on when the engine is running
Loose or damaged pin/ribbed strap
- Tension the belt or replace it
Loose contacts or broken wire
- Check the wire connections and the wires themselves

Too much distilled water in the battery
- Evaporate excess distilled water by recharging the battery. Do not remove electrolyte
