For front-wheel drive AUDI 80 vehicles, the brake fluid pressure regulator for the rear brakes is located on a bracket in front of the rear suspension. It regulates the pressure of the brake fluid on the pistons of the wheel cylinders of the rear wheels. This adjustment is made depending on the load on the vehicle. When the car is fully loaded, the pressure on the pistons increases. In this case, the rear suspension is only slightly unloaded when braking. If there are only one or two people in the cabin, then the pressure decreases and the rear suspension struts seem to raise the car body.
The pressure regulator receives information about the load on the racks from the spring, with which it is connected to the rear suspension (see illustration 9.0).
An assistant is needed to check the operation of the pressure regulator. The car does not need to be put on the goats.
Depress the brake pedal all the way and release it sharply. In this case, the pressure regulator lever should move.
For a more accurate check of the pressure regulator, special tools are needed.
In AUDI 89 quattro cars, the pressure regulator is located in the engine compartment in front of the ABS unit. The pressure regulator prevents the rear wheels from locking up by preventing the brake fluid pressure from rising to a dangerous level.
