Do not overtighten when installing

Insert the spring and bushing into the ball stop and install it on the shift lever. Position the spring and bushings on the right in the direction of travel. Install the ball stop before installing the retaining ring "15".

Can be installed on the body only in one position

Remove before removing the ball joint. Always replace the ring; the rounded side faces the body.

Insert so that the reverse latch is on the left. The ball stop limitation on the right and left must be installed.

Seal the bottom with AKD 512001 paste.

Self-locking, always replace.


Adjusting the switching



Place the car on jack stands.



Remove the lower engine compartment trim.

Remove the lower engine compartment trim.


Place the gear shift lever in neutral position.

Unscrew the lever handle.

Remove the shift lever cover.

Loosen the gear shift rod from underneath the vehicle.

Place the gear shift lever vertically.

Place the gear shift lever vertically.


Adjust the shift lever so that the distance "a" between the noses of the ball stop and the ball stop housing is the same on both sides.

Tighten the gearbox linkage mounting bolt.

Note: Do not change the position of the lever.


Check if the gearshift lever is in neutral position in the third and fourth gear slot.

Check the switching of all speeds. Pay special attention to the reverse gear lock. If necessary, unscrew the bolts securing the ball joint housing and turn the housing slightly.



Install the shift lever cover. Install the shift lever handle.

Install the lower engine compartment trim.

Remove the car from the jackstand.
