Coolant Temperature Sensor — Removal and Installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. The coolant temperature sensor is located on the back of the coolant outlet pipe, on the left side of the cylinder head on 4-cylinder engines with a carburetor. On 4-cylinder engines with fuel injection, it is located on the top of the outlet pipe, the smaller of the two blocks. On 5-cylinder engines, the sensor is located on the back of the outlet pipe.

2. Before removing the block, drain half of the fluid from the cooling system as described in Chapter 3.

3. Disconnect the electrical wiring, unscrew the sensor from the outlet pipe (photo). Remove the sealing gasket.



4. Reassemble in reverse order, always install a new sealing gasket. Complete the cooling system as described in Chapter 5.
